* I found this photo of a little girl in a tin of old photographs at a vintage fair. I couldn’t bear to leave her behind because she was once someone’s little girl. She lives in my purse and I’ve christened her Maude.
All things bookish.

I love this. Gorgeous wee Maude!

She is gorgeous despite the sullen little face!

That is so sweet! And a lovely poem. I’m glad you rescued her. I find it really sad to see old photos of anonymous people who are now forgotten. What decade do you reckon this one was taken?

I’ve been wondering this myself. General consensus was around 1920 ish

I think so too, but the hairstyle and clothes could really place it any time from the 20s to the 60s?

Yeah it’s a difficult one! We’ll most likely never know!

I love this picture, it reminds me of one I have of my mother sitting in a deckchair with her teddy bear. She was born in 1928 and would have been about the same age as Maude. I’d say 1930’s.

Lovely! I’ve been thinking 20s/30’s. Would love to know who she is.

Love the poem and the photograph. I collect photos/postcards of unknown people too, I love wondering about them and their lives. Nice to have discovered your beautiful blog
